24 ans originaire de Belgique (Flandre)

I am Ruben. Same as my girlfriend Nienke, I live in Belgium in a town called Genk. I live in a family of 5 and have 1 brother and 1 sister. I finished my studies in tourism this year and we decided to travel around Australia, Asia en a small part of Africa for a year. I can say travelling is my hobby, which started when I was very young. My parents took me on multiple trips around the world and I guess that is where I got my passion from.
As for now, I have been in the Philippines for 2 weeks and stay for another 2 weeks before going to Indonesia.
Since I came from China, I find the people to be very open and friendly here. The food is lovely, the culture is just fascinating and the nature is wonderfull. Only, one of the main problems here is the excessive amount of poverty in the big cities (mostly Manilla). Some people are forced to go into criminal activities and therefore some parts of the country get marked as being ‘dangerous’to travel in.Que peux-tu me dire de ton premier contact avec des locaux ? Comment t’es-tu senti ?
As mentioned before, the local people are extremely friendly and helpfull. In case you ask for directions or just some simple information, they will assist you in all ways possible to make sure you reach your destination.
  4. Comment tu définirais le volontariat ?
I respect people who do international volunteering. In my opinion this should be defined as people working for a good cause without gaining anything for themselves except the experience and the satisfaction of helping other people in need.
Traveling has played a major part in my life as it had changed my perspective of looking at the world. When you stay in 1 country it is nearly impossible to understand the way of life and different cultures in all the different parts of the world. I believe that people who have seen all the good (and the bad things) the world has got to offer, are able to have a more colorful point of view than most people.
The world of tomorrow should be an ideal place to live in. A world without poverty, pollution, war, … Of course, a world like that is only a fools dream but I believe we can all do our part in trying to make it a better place for all of us. /li>
  7. Veux-tu nous partager quelque chose ? Une anecdote ?
Something I learned in Australia and Africa (maby Disney aswell); No worries, hakuna matata.
