Hi, I’m Lena from Germany. I’m 24 Years old and decided 8 months ago to quit my Job and travel through the world. One word how describes me the best is maybe confused/dopey. But I still survived until now. And I visited same amazing countries like India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam…
I arrived one week ago here(NZ), it was a Monday
My host mum picked me up from the Airport. That was super nice. And I felt a bit like home, because the landscape looks a bit like Germany. And I felt very lucky to be here, to have the chance to travel in NZ.
Comment t’es-tu senti ?
Like I said before the host mum picked me up from the airport that was more or less my first contact with a Local. And she is super nice. I think the people in Australia and NZ are pretty similar. Everyone is asking you ”how are you” or ”how do you doing”. They gave me the feeling that they’re interested. And when I was shopping they started a conversation with me about “what I do here, and stuff like that “. Something like that never ever happen in Germany.
  5. Parlais-tu la langue locale ? Cela t-a-t-il posé des problèmes ? Et comment t’es-tu débrouillé ?
Yes, I learned English in School. But I never really used it in Germany. That was a bit a problem for me in the first few days. And it’s totally different if you speak with people who their mother language is English, then with same People from France or Spain. Sometimes it’s harder to understand them, especially when you live with them like I do in a host family. But that’s the thing, you just learn it when you speak it.
  6. Comment tu définirais le volontariat ?
When I’m honest I think that this trip will not change my life but it will change me and how I live my life. When you travel everything is soooo different than home. But I really like it. You learn more about yourself and see what you can do and probably what you cannot do. It shows you your own limits. For example, when I did the first time Couchsurfing in Thailand, I stayed with this lovely girl. It wasn’t so easy to have a conversation with her, because her English wasn’t that good but we found a way to communicate and now we are friends. Or when I stayed with a Girl in Bali. They had no “European shower” they showered with buckets, new experience for me, but that was okay. Or I went to a mountain village for a few days, slept on the ground, no power, water from a river. I never ever thought in my whole life I can do something like that, but I did. Yeahii! Travel helped me to get to know myself much better and that’s amazing. I’m not travelling to find myself or the sense of my whole life. I travel to see different cultures, try new food, trying where are my limits, meet a lot of amazing people (like you guys).
Who knows that. Every days happens a lot of good things to people and a lot of very bad things. I really hope the world of tomorrow brings a hugest freedom to every person who needs it. I hope this world brings more justice for everyone. I saw so much poverty and sorrow in a lot of countries I travelled. I would love to image the world of tomorrow can help this people to have a better life.
